CRM Reviews: Sugar Email
Sugar
The basic Email features in Sugar will give you a solid system for sending emails to Accounts and other records. The system also lets you create records, such as creating a Contact from a product inquiry email. The open-source roots and extensibility of Sugar are evident in its integration with a wide variety of services, like Gmail, Yahoo, and IMAP, and clients like Outlook and Notes.
Transactional Email
The built-in template builder has a basic HTML and text editor, with a convenient variable insertion option for Contacts and other database records. The system can be adapted to many business scenarios, because the underlying PHP programs are easily adapted by qualified programmers.
Since Sugar can be run On-Premise or at a Host, you can use many different high-volume transaction server configurations. To help manage the system, templates can be assigned to teams and Users.
Marketing
Although Sugar can deliver massive amounts of email to your email servers, it’s not a Marketing Automation system. You do have a Tracker URL feature you can use for logging which emails are opened, but there’s no CAN-SPAM opt-out management.
Management
Inbound Emails can be manually assigned to Users and Teams, and related to Contacts and other records. You they can also Emails with automatic attachment options. Outbound Emails can be related to Contacts and other records when you create them, and you can use Workflow to assign follow-up work to these emails. If a user wants to automatically link an inbound Email, he can forward it to a SNIP email address. Emails sent to this special Sugar Email Archiving mailbox will be automatically attached to Accounts, Opportunities and other records. Any Calendar events, attachments and images in the email are also imported. The original email address is used to find the related record. The SNIP email address works well as a BCC on outbound emails, too, as long as the recipient has an email address that’s recorded in the desired Sugar module.
