Examples of my work

In the last five years I have done consulting on manufacturing, distribution, infrastructure, Customer Relationship Management and Marketing projects. Before that I spent many years as a corporate CIO, software consultant and as the creator of software products.  Here are some of the things I have done:

Contact Center for E-commerce Support
As a VAR and consultant to a telephony development company with a high-availability VOIP product for inbound and outbound agents, I provided enterprise level software design and marketing.  This software has been integrated with e-commerce and marketing automation to provide a complete view of the customer across all channels of communication.
Manufacuring and Distribution
As CIO for one of the nation’s largest, vertically integrated manufacturers and distributors of nutritional supplements, I led the development and deliery of hundreds of systems. For example, we created warehouse automation systems that helped increase pick facings from 250 to over 5000 SKU’s, while improving order shipping accuracy and increasing picking speed from 150 to over 350 units per picker per hour.
Conference Calling
As a consultant to an industry leader in enterprise audio and web conferencing services, I improved marketing to enterprise accounts and independent software integrators. We communicated requirements and capabilities between prospects, sales and technical staff. The technology stack is based on C#, Windows servers, PSTN and customized hardware.
General Accounting and Programming Tools
As the founder of a software company in Houston, I created GL/AP/AR/Invoicing systems and database programming tools that were sold to over 500 companies, and a basic accounting system that was distributed to over 3000 small and mid-sized businesses. Our international sales network had over 100 Value Added Resellers.
Shipping Agencies
When a cargo container ship steams away from the dock, everything has to be on board. Making sure everything is handled in port is the job of the Ship’s Agency. The Agent will make arrangements for longshoremen, crew, food, fuel and a thousand other things needed by a cargo ship when it is in port. CRM Management spent time with the Agents, key contractors and owners of the Agency to understand the business. We then created workflows and a custom database which provided real-time information for CRM contacts.
Justice Information Management
As the Software Architect Consultant to a western state with over 50 courthouses, I created a system that cut the time to notify statewide courts of criminal filings and convictions from 3 weeks to 18 hours.
The state government needed to keep track of people that went through the court system more than once. The goal was to enhance the penalties for repeat drunk driving offenders. We designed and set up a statewide Justice Information Management system which had the core features of CRM – people, schedules and opportunities (for self-improvement). The system tracked all lower court proceedings, not just DUI’s. Since these were involuntary ‘customers’, the CRM system had to be very accurate and timely. The users of the system, court clerks and judges in a rural state, were intimately involved in design and testing of workflow and data collection processes. The alignment of programming resources and ‘business requirements’ made this a very successful project. The system scheduled and serviced ‘customers’ for many years.
