CRM Reviews: Infusionsoft Email
Infusionsoft
Since Infusionsoft started life as an Email Service Provider, it has excellent bulk email features. The marketing email design and tracking system is tightly integrated with the built-in CRM. These combine with the intuitive Campaign and Workflow features to create a rich environment for Marketing Automation, with a little e-commerce to season the mix.
Transactional Email
Infusionsoft system is good for prospecting and marketing into your current customer base, but how well do the features stack up for handling email correspondence with CRM accounts? The answer for outbound emails is simple – you get easy access to well-designed emails. Just open an Account or other CRM record, click on the Send Email button, and pick a template. The system lets you preview the formatted emails (good), change the text and images in the WYSIWIG editor (great), and even tinker with the HTML (maybe great, maybe not).
Marketing
Most CRM systems give you a basic text email that can contain data fields from your mail merge. The job of creating attractive marketing emails is normally handled by a separate Marketing Automation System, but some SAAS providers have combined both CRM and Email services. Infusionsoft is one of this new breed, and it also has a basic E-commerce system for small business.
Infusionsoft goes a lot farther than static HTML templates found in most low-priced ESP products. They have a complete WYSIWYG design studio built in. The template editor is very easy to use, with whistles and bells like a drag-and-drop image and paragraph blocks, header/footer/sidebar control, and themed color palettes.
Landing pages can also be built with the same kind of WYSIWYG tool. Infusionsoft can host your landing pages for you, and send real-time campaign updates to the CRM when a visitor hits the page or buys something.
The same intuitive, attractive Marketing Automation is found in the Infusionsoft Campaign Builder. You start with a graphical business flowcharting tool, instead of the set of data entry forms found in other CRM’s. Drag and drop icons representing traffic sources and goals, and arrange your process flow. The flowchart doesn’t support branching, so you will mostly use it to create simple task workflows. There are other features to look for in a high-end Marketing Automation system, but this tool does its job with elegance and ease.
Management
A template can be assigned to multiple Categories, which gives you a lot of flexibility when you are trying to organize a large number of templates. Since this is a small-business system, you won’t find features like sub-categories, expiration dates, or security control to access groups of templates.
There are no inbound email management features. You can key in a note, or attach a file, but neither one is a real inbound filing system. Mobile access is equally simple- you need a decent internet connection and a full-sized display to effectively use Infusionsoft. The pages are simple enough to run on a smartphone web browser, but it’s not an ideal experience.
